Sweaty shirts and a party for Amnesty
Past 3:00 a.m. Went to Omair H.'s wedding at the Bosnian Islamic Association in Toronto. It was alright, except for one thing - the air conditioning wasn't working. Wearing a suit (no tie thank goodness) in a room full of people with no air conditioning on a hot summer day. Not fun. Oh well, the best laid plans of mice and men and all that I guess...
Had to leave early to go to a party at Natalia's (Salman's friend) house. The idea was to have people over for food and drink and good times, and have them donate a little something to Amnesty International. Not a bad thought. Of course I had no cash on me as usual, but luckily the donation forms had a credit card option. Good old plastic comes in handy again.
So apparently they have these ultra modern public toilets in Italy that look like spaceships, as some of the girls at the party experienced, where you put in something like 2 euros to use it, and after you leave, the toilet cleans itself with power jets that literally wash the entire room. One of the girls almost got soaked trying to sneak in to use the toilet after the last person came out so she wouldn't have to pay the 2 euros. I wonder if the water for that is recycled and reused each time... I hope so, but then again, maybe not.
Diet's on hold. The guy whose family owns La Rocca bakery was there and had brought three cakes for dessert. Can't say no to La Rocca cakes!
Back to Waterloo tomorrow.
