Zidane bows out... literally
It was the most inglorious end to a glorious Zidane story.Perhaps more disappointing than France's loss at the World Cup final, Zinedine Zidane's exit from the game, and from professional football, with a red card for an unexpected head-butt to Italy's Materazzi.

According to French media, a couple of France's players said afterwards that Materrazi called Zidane a racial slur.
Or maybe, in a brief mental lapse, Zidane actually thought Materazzi was the ball and tried for a header towards the goal.
