Five years after the sudden and tragic end of the world's most iconic twin towers, plans for rebuilding of the WTC site in New York are complete, with the unveiling of three new towers alongside the many times redesigned Freedom Tower. The towers, called 'some of the most stunning buildings... anywhere in the world,' will form a descending semicircle around the footprints of the original towers. The tallest of these, by Norman Foster, is topped by sloping diamond shapes that point downwards towards the original site. Foster's website says the concept behind it is 'driven by memoy, but equally be a sense of rebirth.'
It's hard to judge how good these new designs are from the render. I personally like the final Freedom Tower look, but can't say the same just yet about its new neighbours.
