Professor calls for end to Jewish holidays at York

A history professor at York University is calling for an end to York's tradition of cancelling classes on Jewish holidays, saying it goes against the university's nature as a secular institution. He claims that cancelling classes on non-statutory religious holidays violates the York University Act of 1965 that forbids the university from imposing religious observances on any of its members. His reasoning seems fine, but can we wait until I'm out of here? I certainly don't mind being 'imposed upon' to miss school on Yom Kippur or Rosh Hashanah!
